Title: Universality principles for random polynomials

Abstract: In this talk, I will present several universality principles concerned with zero dis-tribution of random polynomials. In one direction, universality phenomenon indicates that under natural assumptions, asymptotic distribution of (appropriately normalized) zeros of random polynomials is independent of the choice of probability law defined on random pol-ynomials. Another form of universality is asymptotic normality of smooth linear statistics of zeros.

Biography:

Turgay Bayraktar received his BSc and MSc degrees from Mathematics Department of Middle East Technical University and his PhD from Indiana University. He continued his postdoctoral research at Johns Hopkins, Indiana and Syracuse Universities before he joined Sabancı University (SU) as a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sci-ences in 2017. His research focuses on the fields of complex analysis, geometry and dynamical systems. He has received various national and international awards and grants including Sci-ence Academy, Turkey BAGEP prize, Turkish Academy of Sciences GEBIP and Mathematics Foundation of Turkey Gündüz İkeda research awards. Dr. Bayraktar is serving as Tosun Ter-zioğlu Chair of Mathematics at SU as of March 2022.
